{"id":2785,"date":"2012-08-28T16:41:12","date_gmt":"2012-08-28T20:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.red-sweater.com\/blog\/?p=2785"},"modified":"2012-08-28T16:47:55","modified_gmt":"2012-08-28T20:47:55","slug":"static-publishing-with-voodoopad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redsweater.com\/blog\/2785\/static-publishing-with-voodoopad","title":{"rendered":"Static Publishing With VoodooPad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gus Mueller of <a href=\"http:\/\/flyingmeat.com\/\">Flying Meat<\/a> is a good friend who, for a short time, even worked on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.red-sweater.com\/marsedit\/\">MarsEdit<\/a>. <em>Much to my chagrin<\/em>, Gus doesn&#8217;t actually use MarsEdit for editing his own blogs. When I&#8217;ve asked him why, he explains that he&#8217;s too tied to a particular setup involving <a href=\"http:\/\/flyingmeat.com\/voodoopad\/\">VoodooPad<\/a>, his desktop wiki app.<\/p>\n<p>To make things worse, he&#8217;s finally made his blogging solution public! You can read all about <a href=\"http:\/\/flyingmeat.com\/voodoopad\/docs\/static%20publishing.html\">static publishing with VoodooPad<\/a> on the Flying Meat site. There goes the neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>Although MarsEdit supports static publishing, I have to confess it&#8217;s pretty minimal compared to the support for hosted blog services such as WordPress and Blogger. MarsEdit support is all built around the old &#8220;Blosxom&#8221; publishing convention. If you&#8217;re interested, Dan Weeks has a good write-up about how he used this support to connect <a href=\"http:\/\/danimal.org\/blog\/2011\/07\/31\/posting-to-octopress-from-marsedit\/\">MarsEdit with Octopress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although static publishing isn&#8217;t a top priority for MarsEdit today, I&#8217;ll be considering enhancements that would give more flexibility and power to these setups.
