{"id":3868,"date":"2022-05-18T16:27:48","date_gmt":"2022-05-18T20:27:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/redsweater.com\/blog\/?p=3868"},"modified":"2022-05-18T16:28:02","modified_gmt":"2022-05-18T20:28:02","slug":"black-ink-2-2-3-puzzle-picker-etc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redsweater.com\/blog\/3868\/black-ink-2-2-3-puzzle-picker-etc","title":{"rendered":"Black Ink 2.2.3: Puzzle Picker, Appearance, and Usability Improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Black Ink 2.2.3 is now available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/redsweater.com\/blackink\/\">Black Ink site<\/a> and on the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/black-ink-2\/id1487333695?mt=12&#038;at=10l4LD\">Mac App Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This update includes a number of improvements to the new calendar-based puzzle picker, addressing some bugs and also introducing a new behavior that highlights un-downloaded puzzles by showing their dates in <strong>bold:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/redsweater.com\/blog\/wp-content\/downloads\/2022\/05\/BoldPuzzleDates.png\" alt=\"Puzzle chooser window showing unsolved puzzles in bold\" title=\"BoldPuzzleDates.png\" border=\"0\" width=\"664\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This will make it easier to navigate historical puzzles without bothering to re-open puzzles that have previously been downloaded. Of course, if you do want to re-open a puzzle that is already downloaded, you can select it again from the calendar. In the future I hope to offer more details in this panel such that you can tell whether a downloaded puzzle is partially or fully completed.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the complete list of changes for this release:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Puzzle picker improvements\n<ul>\n<li>Undownloaded puzzle dates are now emphasized in the calendar<\/li>\n<li>Fix an issue that sometimes prevented the latest puzzle being opened<\/li>\n<li>Restore ability to press return in the Puzzle Chooser to open the selected puzzle<\/li>\n<li>The puzzle picker calendar now stays in the same general timeframe across subsequent openings<\/li>\n<li>If a valid puzzle is not found for a chosen date, the next available puzzle is now downloaded<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Puzzle appearance\n<ul>\n<li>Restore previous darkness of the puzzle highlight color in Dark Mode<\/li>\n<li>More improvements to positioning of letters in puzzle cells<\/li>\n<li>Reduced the spacing between clues in the clue lists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>General usability\n<ul>\n<li>New preference supports automatically closing window after solving a puzzle<\/li>\n<li>Fix a rare issue that prevented special answers from being verified\/corrected\/revealed correctly<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Start Over&#8221; now clears any puzzle status flags as well as the entered answers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you enjoy Black Ink, please consider writing a review or rating the app on the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/black-ink-2\/id1487333695?mt=12&#038;at=10l4LD\">Mac App Store<\/a>, and spreading the word on <a href=\"https:\/\/facebook.com\/blackinkapp\/\">Facebook<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/blackinkapp\">Twitter<\/a>!
