{"id":663,"date":"2008-12-24T19:58:38","date_gmt":"2008-12-24T23:58:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.red-sweater.com\/blog\/?p=663"},"modified":"2008-12-24T19:59:37","modified_gmt":"2008-12-24T23:59:37","slug":"textcast-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redsweater.com\/blog\/663\/textcast-10","title":{"rendered":"Textcast 1.0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to my friends Dave Dribin and Wolf Rentzsch, whose recently formed company, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitmaki.com\/\">Bit Maki Software<\/a>, has just released its maiden product: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitmaki.com\/textcast\/\">Textcast 1.0<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe application is designed to make it easy to turn any text from the web, an RSS feed, or a simple text file, into an audio podcast you can listen to just like any other podcast in iTunes. The software takes advantage of Mac OS X&#8217;s excellent &#8220;Alex&#8221; voice synthesizer.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThere are some similarities between Textcast and my application, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.red-sweater.com\/typecast\/\">Typecast<\/a>. Aside from the names, they are both designed to package up data into podcast form so that it can be easily digested using iTunes.  I suggested to Dave Dribin that I would be happy to donate Typecast&#8217;s source code if they ever decide to incorporate its functionality into Textcast.
