Let’s Kick Ass In 2009
December 31st, 2008I’ll keep this short and sweet.
I’m grateful to my family for supporting and encouraging me in my life pursuits. In particular, to my wife Chrissa and my infant son Henry. It’s cheesy but true, their love keeps me going every day.
I’m also grateful to everybody on the internet who gives me the time of day. You invigorate and revitalize me. Customers, bloggers, journalists, podcasters, twitter followers, Mac and iPhone development colleagues, and most significantly at this particular instant, folks like yourself who are bothering to read this post.
Talent and ambition are meaningless in a vacuum. All of us depend on all of us for mutual inspiration and gratification. Let’s make an effort in 2009 to help each other and to thank each other as much as we can.
Let’s kick ass in 2009.

Happy New Year from someone you have both helped (via your software and via more personal things such as answering some questions I had before my first trip to a WWDC earlier this year) and helped inspire (I’m hoping that 2009 is the year where I will become a micro-ISV).
As a former Windows developer I can say with my hand firmly on my heart that the Mac developer community is in a class of its own and you are a shining example of that. Thank you for the inspiration, thank you for giving back to the Mac community and thank you for being one of the most gregarious, friendly and helpful developers out there.

Daniel,
Best wishes for this new year! Thank you for all of the insightful blog entries (not to mention tweets!) that you have posted throughout the past year. I never took the chance to thank you before this, but they have been greatly appreciated!
Happy New Year!
Nick

“Let’s Kick Ass” is a great message to kick off the year with.
Speaking of gratitude, I recently used some code you once posted for quickly computing the size of a directory. Thanks for that and for all your contributions to the platform and to the community.

Great tone to start off the new year:-) I think as developers for the Macintosh, we WILL have a “kick-ass” year and with the WWDC turnout, we will see some amazing stuff coming from Indie developers more than the Big dev houses.

Hey Daniel – great message! T-shirt worthy, even!
I’ll take this opportunity to thank you for writing MarsEdit…love it. And also for QuietMBP, which I downloaded way back when I first got my current laptop and still use daily!
Actually, just before reading this entry, I wrote a list of great Mac software I’ve been using on my blog, and MarsEdit’s at the top: http://www.creativecreature.ca/blog/?p=59
Cheers. Keep on rockin in the free world.

Johnny,
MarsEdit is one of my favorites too. I’ll have to check out some of the other apps on your list.
