The Potion Store

June 22nd, 2007

Dude! Want to make a bunch of developers your best friend? Then write an online payment processing framework, allowing new developers to easily harness the power of PayPal or Google Checkout.

That’s what Andy Kim of The Potion Factory just did. This is definitely one of those “wish I could run Rails” moments. Still, a move worth applauding. Thanks, Andy!

No Doubt! I was just wishing for this very thing. Now if we could just find a php-based option.

  2. Chuck Says:

Why can’t you run Rails? Locked into a host that won’t let you?

  3. Daniel Jalkut Says:

Chuck: not locked in, per se. But yeah, the shared hosting service at Pair.com doesn’t support Rails.

I suspect that this policy will change when Rails becomes widely acknowledged as “energy efficient” CPU-wise.

    That is brilliant news.

Everyone I’ve talked to who sells software says the store is the hardest part to do. Looks like life got a little bit easier for developers.

  5. Kenneth Ballenegger Says:

Actually I think I might give it a try… I totaly agree with Gareth, the Store is the hardest part to get right. My store totally sucks and I don’t have the time or the knowledge to make it any better. Now all I need is a Rails host.
