Indie Biz For Sale

February 5th, 2008

At the C4 conference last year, I talked about software acquisition, and about how you might find potential applications that are looking to be taken over by a new owner.

Sometimes, it’s as easy as reading a blog post. Lee Falin announces his desire to sell his company, and exit the Mac indie software business.

Screen Mimic is a cool app, and would serve as quite a head start for anybody interested in the screencasting market. But the real attraction here is Lee is selling an entire functioning company, which includes administrative elements such as a working online store, which is a classic stumbling block for people just getting started.

It will be interesting to see whether Polarian ends up being acquired by an ambitious new indie developer, or by a larger company that perhaps sees value in propping up its existing video-related software.
