MarsEdit 4.4.8 is now available on the MarsEdit site and has been submitted for review on the Mac App Store.
This update includes a number of small improvements, including addressing a bug in 4.4.7 that caused the standard “drag proxy” icon to appear in MarsEdit’s post editor windows. These proxies don’t make sense in MarsEdit because the windows don’t represent user-managed files on disk.
Here’s the complete list of changes in this update:
- Restore hiding of the document proxy icon in post editor
- Improve loading of blogs at launch time to avoid a momentarily blank list
- Improve performance when editing posts on blogs with large numbers of authors
- Fix a bug where the titles of blogs could be cut off in the main window
- Fix a bug that prevented selected sort column from being preserved across launches
- Fix a bug that prevented publish status from being interpreted correctly for AtomPub based blogs.
If you enjoy MarsEdit, please consider writing a review or rating the app on the Mac App Store, spreading the word on Facebook or Twitter, and of course, writing about the app on your own blog! Thanks for your support.

Last week, Apple announced its first Macs featuring their own custom processors, which they dub “Apple Silicon.”
I want folks who purchase these new Macs to have the best possible experience with our apps, so I’ve updated all five of Red Sweater’s main apps: MarsEdit, Black Ink, FastScripts, FlexTime, and Clarion, to support the native architecture of these Macs. That means they’ll run at optimal speeds and require no additional resources from the system’s compatibility layers.
Enjoy that Apple Silicon!

Apple is releasing a major update today: macOS 11 Big Sur.
As usual, we have tested our apps extensively with the new OS, and made fixes to the apps along the way to ensure compatibility. As far as we are aware all of our apps are completely compatible with the new update.
Stay tuned for news about updated versions of our apps to support Apple’s new Apple Silicon based Macs, which we intend to release shortly.
Enjoy macOS 11!
